Who Is The Subversive Gardener

The Subversive Gardener works at the intersection of ecology, design, and civic space. Drawing inspiration from guerrilla gardening, a grassroots movement focused on reclaiming neglected or underutilized land through communal planting.

We view gardening as a creative and radical act. The Subversive Gardener develops projects that invite public participation, provoke dialogue around environmental responsibility, and reimagine how shared spaces can be activated through subtle, poetic interventions in the landscape.

Our Mission, Goals, & History

The Subversive Gardener provides a platform to educate and inspire individuals of all ages to develop creative design solutions for agricultural problems.

Life Long Learning

We conduct workshops for participants who wish to develop gardening tools, technologies, and systems that foster sustainable gardening practices in their community.

Community Care

We offer events to connect individuals and communities who are facing challenges related to agriculture and food production with designers and engineers interested in creating tools and solutions that drive positive environmental impact.

Environmental Justice

We are a design platform showcasing projects that explore environmental justice with the aim of promoting discussion and creating awareness about sustainable urban agricultural practices and guerrilla gardening interventions worldwide.

Ecological Innovation

We prototype new relationships between people and the lands they live on. Our projects function as both environmental actions and cultural experiments, advancing sustainable ideals through creativity, access, and stewardship.
