Edward Bush Public School Garden Build

With a generous grant from Pure Farmland, many supporting community hands, and organic heirloom seeds, we have built a school garden that provides each classroom with their very own learning garden!

Michael Lee, the Principal of PS18, notes how impactful it is to have students apply their classroom curriculum to real life-hands on learning. In addition, the garden has spurred some amazing opportunities for workshopping essential urban gardening challenges, like choosing the right plants to grow in the shade of nearby tall buildings. As well as, providing a chance for kids to see how their community food waste can be turned into compost which will support the growth of the plants and students alike.
