Scholes Street Community Garden
The Scholes Street Children’s Garden has been an active site for vegetable growing, environmental education, and community gatherings since 1986. Located in Brooklyn, the garden has long served as a shared green space where children, families, and neighbours can learn about food, ecology, and collective stewardship.
The Subversive Gardener partnered with the Scholes Street Children’s Garden to support workshops on urban farming, environmentalism, and hands-on growing practices. Through these workshops, community members were invited to explore gardening as both a practical skill and a form of ecological engagement, connecting local food production with broader conversations about sustainability, public space, and care for the urban environment.
