Seed2Table Charity Dinners

The Seed to Table charity dinner series combines urban agriculture, cooking, and community through interactive, ingredient-focused meals that trace food from how it’s grown to how it’s shared. The dinners also serve as a fund raising event for The Subversive Gardener’s education and outreach programs.

In 2019, locally grown heirloom tomatoes anchored a collaborative, family-style meal created in partnership with Heatonist, Honey’s Meadery, and Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds, showing how urban harvests can directly shape a dining experience. In 2018 the event focused on heirloom hot peppers grown locally, transformed into hot sauces, and paired with seasonal vegetable dishes provided by Natoora.

The dinners guide guests through a full “seed-to-table” experience. These dinners attract a diverse mix of attendees, including urban gardeners, chefs, food entrepreneurs, educators, students, and community organizers, all curious diners interested in sustainability and local food systems. By bringing together contributors from across the food chain—seed companies, producers, nonprofits, and academic institutions—the series creates a space for connection, learning, and collaboration, leaving guests not only with a shared meal but also with actual seeds to plant and a deeper understanding of community-driven food systems.
